Moree - Lightening Ridge & Nindiguly Pub June 2011

Only home a coule of days and then off to Moree to visit Jade and Danni, had a good trip out to Yallarbon where we stayed in a fab free camp well not so free cost $10.00 for the night with power, water & camp fire with wood provided, well worth the stop over, then had a look around Gundy being Sun nothing open, then through to Moree where we stayed in a great caravan park just up the road from the girls, spent 2 nights their looking around before we left for Lightening Ridge, wow wat an experience that was, very interesting, went down an Opal mine, had a really good look around stayed in a new park which was so far above the average park, didn't experience the hot pools wasn't too keen being so public and very cold weather.

Arrived at Nindigully Put for the long weekend, fun and games was a good stop over before heading home.
10 days away was lovely.

This trip we took both the kids Lani (the dog) and Mum (the cat) they were both great little travellers, in training to be grey nomads :)

TASMANIA MAY 2011

We arrived in Hobart cold & windy, picked up the motor home, very basic but did the job, first day we headed off to Port Arthur, stopping the way at an old time collection of relics from day gone by what an interesting place, arrived at Port Arthur late in the afternoon so cold the Free Camp site went on hold, had to go to a caravan park for power so we could run the a/c to keep warm.

Visit to Port Arthur was fantastic, although it was wet and really cold a great place to visit. Called in to see the Tasmanian Devils, these wer not our favourite animals, nasty, smelly creatures, but they do have a place, cleaning up road kill.


from Port Arthur we made out way up the East coast stopping on the way to have a look around, one of the highlights was the Penguin tour in the evening at Bichino to watch the little guys come from the oceana to the rookery for the night.  The coast line is beautiful and we did enjoy it, made our way as far north as St Helens then headed back to St Mary's and accross country to Campbelltown and Ross (the wool town) we did enjoy even though bitterly cold,  after making our way back to Hobart stayed the night in a new caravan park right near the airport before flying home the next morning.

In short Tassie is on our list to go back and take the van and explor it for about 3 months.

TASSIE HERE WE COME

26th May 2011 see's us off to Tassie for a very quick trip to check out if we want to travel it more seriously in the future with the caravan, this trip we will travel the east coast, don't think we will have much time for any more, unless of course it snows then we might just have to chase the snow.
I will  keep this updated while we are away, our rented mobile home has NO T.V, I guess I will have plenty of time to blog after our daily adventures.

Canungra Weekend at James Sharp Park 9th & 10 April 2011

Well what a weekend, great place great company and the ultimate in food and booze.  We arrived at the park at around 8.30 am to find dozens of campers already set up, took a quick look around and found this great spot close to the toilets for those who needed to take a stroll during the wee small hours. We had our own picnic table and great fire pit, after we set up and helped Julianne get her new rig sorted & baked some Wow factor scones with jam & cream, then arrived the Wicked camper (s) Lee & Barry, then Liz arrived later in the afternoon just in time for happy hour, what a feast Barry supplied with cheeses of several varieties, grapes & loads of other goodies, not to mention the bottles of red, white & blue Oh no!! Beer of course, plenty of drinks food and laughs, Lani & Betty Boop checked each other out from top to toe and agreed they were both ok & happy to spend the weekend with each other.

Time for the camp ovens to come out, firewood hadn't arrived so we had to resort to the heat beads, 2 great meals a chicken country hot pot and beef & vegges, crusty bread then Miss L made the famous sticky date putting. 5 Star Camping at it's best.

Retiring to the fire pit after the wood finally arrived, Liz brought out the marshmallows & chocolate to toast on the fire.  We sat around  sharing old times toasting  marshmallows and drinking good wine. Doesn't get much better than this !!

The two dogs were buggered after a day of sleeping in the sun. Mum our beautiful Burmese cat came along for the weekend too, bit skittish for a while but soon settled in when she found the bed & generally just enjoyed the weekend good girl no trouble.

Well Sunday morning left overs, there were a couple of  left over people after several reds, so they figured that left over chocolate was the go for the second hand heads, couple of cups of tea, hot crossed buns and cake everyone soon felt better.

Sitting around laughing about the weekend and just kicking back, thought we would have a game of tennis on a stick except Lee just couldn't find any soft ground to stick her stick so that idea was cancelled.

All in all we had a great weekend and would say James Sharp Park is a great get away close to home, Get their early this place is popular.

Getting Ready

Hi All, This is my first time at blogging, don't know what I'm doing but here goes.  Doing a trial run with Julianne this weekend in her new motor home, she's leaving first May on her big lap around Oz and we are gearing up to follow in Feb '12 to meet her in SA for her 60th then we will all travel up to Uluru, Alice Springs and then who knows.
